AAUW Wisconsin President Joyce Hoffman

Welcome to AAUW- Wisconsin –

This is a very exciting time to be a woman or a girl with many choices. Much of what we in AAUW-Wisconsin have been working to achieve since 1921 – a strong educational system, economic self-sufficiency, and the exercise of civil rights and self-direction for all women – is allowing women of all ages to pursue and assume significant roles in every aspect of American life.

The American Association of University Women (AAUW) is a community of members who work to break through educational and economic barriers to give all women a fair chance. AAUW-Wisconsin has nearly 1,700 members in 31 branches across the state. There are another 600 AAUW members-at-large residing in Wisconsin. We also have two dozen college and university partners, many from the UW-System.

AAUW advances equity through advocacy, education, philanthropy and research. We gather once a year at an annual meeting in April. This year’s annual meeting in Racine will focus on pay equity. Next October, we will connect for a legislative day in Madison. At other times, our focus is voter education or leadership training. Many branches award scholarships to college students and are engaged in local projects. Oh, yes, and we have fun as we gather together.

Come join us. Membership is open to anyone with a holding an associate, bachelor or advanced degree from an accredited institution of higher education. To learn more about what we are doing in AAUW-Wisconsin, contact me at (262) 633-0013 or joyce.hoffman@att.net.
