District 2 Coordinator Janet Nortrom
I have been on the state board as VP of Programs, Nominating Chair and also as a Legislative Day Chair. In my own branch, I have been President or Co-president for the last 3 years, public Policy and Membership chair in the past.
My mission in life is to teach citizens to read, I am a teacher at MATC. love to swim, dance Zumba, enjoy the theatre, symphony, and opera. Married to a compassionate man for 53 years, two gorgeous, intelligent daughters, 3 grandchildren.
My passion for AAUW is the mission, advancing equity for women and girls for I know we are not there yet, and we need to continue to break down the barriers that stop us from appreciating the diversity of all humankind.
I was very fortunate to receive the coveted Interfaith Frank Ziegler Award this year in recognition for tireless work for social justice, voter education, literacy, the environmental and distinguished service to the Interfaith cabinet for 20 years, working for the dignity and worth of each individual.
I feel AAUW advocates this same mission through advocacy, education, philanthropy and research. I enjoyed the three national conventions, in Washington DC, St. Louis and Phoenix, where I met Greg Mortenson, author of “Three Cups of Tea” and now his mother and I are good friends, thanks to their mission in educating girls in Afghanistan and Pakistan.
With joy- Janet Nortrom
